Sketchbook Update – 5/27/09

sktchbk09_04.jpg

Three more pages from my 2009 sketchbook from around January-ish.

I like drawing old people for some reason. I find that they lend themselves to be more expressive and moody than a young person would. It's probably the wrinkles. The legs of the woman in the middle are totally out of place, they should be be starting a little higher along the torso. It bothers the hell out of me and I like to think that I wouldn't make that kind of mistake today.

Two more pages (with commentary) after the break.

Meet the Spy.

The guys at Valve have finally released a new video in the "Meet the..." series from Team Fortress 2. I think it was actually leaked but I digress. It's as amazing as all the other ones though "Meet the Demoman" is still my favorite.

2 new images from my current sketchbook.

Two pages that I consider to be good from the first few pages of my current sketchbook. I'm about 1/3 done with the whole thing but I should be closer be being 1/2 done with it at this point in time. I got a little unfocused for a couple months but I'm back at drawing my ass off every day. As long as I meet my self-imposed end of the year deadline to complete my sketchbook, I should be OK.

A brief history of the Flash and I.

The Flash is my favorite superhero.

He's visually striking (a red blur with lightning all over), is ridiculously overpowered and has a great rogues gallery so it should come as no surprise that he's a character that gets repeated every few months in my sketchbooks.  Below is my latest rendition of him and after the break I've posted some of the other Flash drawings that I've done over the years.

Sweet Samus.

Samus

A picture of Samus Aran from the Metroid series I did a while back for no particular reason.

This is just a test post really.

Progress animation after the break.
