The Pitch

Hell's Kitchen (page 1)

This is what I’ve been working on over the past few weeks.

My roommate, an aspiring writer, had this idea for a story set in an alternate version of Hell’s Kitchen in his head and I, being an aspiring comic book artist, suggested for him to do it as a comic. We started going back and forth on it for close to a year until opportunity struck.

More after the break.

Fast forward to about a month ago and, as it turns out, a friend of a friend works in the comic book business and he talked to us about how to go about pitching a story to comic book publishers. He can’t get the story published for us but he did say that he can make sure that our pitch is “seen by the right people.”

With that in mind, my roommate and I have been going back and forth on story, characters and settings for close to a month and we’re finally starting to put it together as an actual pitch to submit to comic book publishers. We need to put together a short summary of what the entire story is about and a rough draft of the first issue plus 5 pages of pencilled and inked artwork, which is what I’ll be doing. Above is the first of those five pages which also happens to be the first page of our first issue.

I don’t want to give anything away other than the book is titled “Hell’s Kitchen” and that the two girls in the middle are the main characters.

Need to get back to drawing now.
