Megadeth + Lord of the Rings
The following video is of a song from Megadeth’s new album “Engdame” titled “This Day We Fight!” In the words of Dave Mustaine, the song was inspired by “… an impassioned plea from Aragorn to his loyal fighters in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy.”
It is also quite awesome.
Granted, he’s not the first musician to write songs based on the Lord of the Rings and Mustaine himself has written songs based on ficton before (“Five Magics” and “The Punishment Due” are supposedly based on the film Goreblade and the Marvel Comics character the Punisher, respectively) but the fact that this also happens to be such a face-meltingly good song on par with the amazing stuff Mustaine did in “Rust in Peace” just makes it that much sweeter in my eyes.
I don’t know how much longer that video will be up on YouTube for.
