OK, so I was wrong…

I cried foul at the cliffhanger ending of PixelJunk Shooter.
I assumed our hard earned dollars would be gouged in the form of upcoming paid DLC for content that could've been included as part of the original game in the first place. As it turns out, Q-Games is actually working on a full-on sequel for the game titled, you guessed it, PixelJunk Shooter 2 and, for some reason, I'm totally OK with that. My complaints about the first game feeling like half a game still exists and my ramblings about the potential pitfalls of our current DLC model are still valid but putting that "2" after the title and releasing it as its own product somehow makes it all better.
Don't ask me why.
An “Inception” review.

It was the posters that did it.
With Dark Knight standing alone in the list of Christopher Nolan films I like, I effortlessly waded through months and months of anticipation and speculation over his next film prior to release. If the internet is anything to go by, the guy clearly has a huge following but I did no more than skip on to the next headline whenever his name showed up alongside anything that wasn't "Batman 3" or "Dark Knight sequel" on blogs and news sites. All it took was for me to see one of the Inception posters and it was done, I went from "zero interest" to "must see" overnight. Talk about the power of good marketing. Naturally, the largely positive word of mouth and critical reception helped also.
Perhaps the most interesting thing the film has spawned are the countless articles pertaining to the various interpretations of the film. These can be very interesting at times but I'm quietly going to sidestep all of that. This is a straight up review of what I liked and didn't like about Inception.

With Neal Adams' Batman: Odyssey now in stores (of which you can see issue #1's beautiful cover above) I've been taken back to a little over a year ago when I, portfolio in hand, attended the New York Comic-Con in 2009 and threw myself at the mercy of Mr. Adams himself. Well known in comic book circles as an extremely harsh critic, my friend (and Bit For Byte co-conspirator) Mark Robson suggested that I take my stuff to his booth and ask for a critique of my artwork.
These are the events that transpired that day as I remember them.

Despite being arguably the biggest comic convention on the planet, this year's San Diego Comic Con brought little in the way of goods in terms of comic book news (except for perhaps Whedon on Avengers but that's movies anyway). Capcom however, was unabashed in professing its love for fighting games and had some of the greatest announcements at the convention.
Here's the recap:

This update is brought to you by a fresh Windows 7 installation. I'm certain my hard drive has been the cause of all my recent headaches but I managed to back up all my important stuff using my secondary and external drives so I'm not too upset over this ordeal. The faulty drive should still be under warranty from Dell so hopefully I'll get a new one for gratis.
The real sucky part now is having to reinstall every program I had.
Below are some new scans and the entirety of my 2010 sketchbook (so far at least) can be found here.

It seems like every 8 months or so my computer comes down with some serious crap and well, it's that time again.
Windows 7 has been as trouble free an operating system as I've ever used but something has been acting up since earlier this week and I think my hard drive is the culprit. It's made my computer virtually unusable for two days now so I have to install Windows 7 in my secondary drive, see if that's indeed the problem and then spend $$$ on a big enough drive to store all my crap in, not to mention re-install every piece of software I have. Le sigh.
This completely ruins my three days off this week that I planned to spend coloring stuff in Photoshop and writing some articles (I have drafts of everything from Predators and Inception reviews to "the Neal Adams experience" among others). And with SDCC this weekend, there's no shortage of stuff to talk about (new MVC3 characters!) so yeah, bad timing as I'll be spending most of this time fixing my computer now.
Oh, well.
(Typing this from my girlfriend's, by the way.)
B4B – Episode 011: E3 2010

Get ready for our longest episode yet. There was such a downpour of information out of E3 that Mark and I brought a guest to help us wade through the storm. Andrew Roberts, your assistance here was invaluable. We tackle the three main press conferences before delving into some of the 3rd party stuff in 2 hours + of Bit For Byte goodness.

EVO 2010 SSF4 Grand Finals – Daigo vs. Ricky Ortiz
I missed pretty much all of this year's EVO stream but I'll be sure to catch up on some of these matches once they're uploaded. The Grand Finals for Super Street Fighter IV has quickly made it's way online though and, well, it's just a blast to see this sort of high level competitive play.
Daigo took it home this year but Ortiz put up a hell of a fight.
It’s coming, it’s coming!

The last in the initial round of class updates for Team Fortress 2 is finally coming! Perhaps more than any other class, the Engineer brings the most exciting possibilities in terms of weapon unlocks and, as has been the norm with the previous updates, Valve will be revealing just what these are over the course of the week culminating with the actual release of the update this Thursday. The first of these unlocks, the Frontier Justice, already has me drooling with anticipation (it rewards sentry kills while simultaneously making the Engi much more viable in regular combat) and I can't wait to see what's coming next. New buildings? The rumored robot models for bots? A new "Meet the Team" video? New maps? Game modes?
